Course Identification Numbering System (C-ID)

C-ID (Course Identification Number) is a system used in California to identify and standardize courses across the California Community College system and the California State University (CSU) system. It helps facilitate the transfer process by ensuring that equivalent courses between institutions are recognized, making it easier for students to transfer from CCCs to CSU campuses.

Courses that are assigned a C-ID number are considered to be comparable across CCCs and CSUs, meaning they meet the same academic standards and content. This helps streamline the articulation process and allows students to more easily know which courses will transfer and fulfill degree requirements.
