Prerequisite

A prerequisite is a condition of enrollment that a student is required to meet in order to demonstrate preparation or readiness for enrollment in a course or program. Prerequisites can be a course or qualification that a student must meet.  It is the student’s responsibility to comply with prerequisites of all courses for which they enroll. Course prerequisites are listed in this catalog in the course descriptions.

If a prerequisite is listed for a course, it means that the discipline faculty and department via the curriculum process have determined that students who lack the prerequisite are highly unlikely to succeed in the course. Therefore, the student MUST meet the prerequisite listed before enrolling in the course.

Students who have satisfied prerequisites at another institution can request a Prerequisite Evaluation form (found through Enrollment Services) to clear registration into a course. It is important that students meet with a Counselor to clear their prerequisite and to verify the next sequential course that is needed. Official transcripts along with the complete Prerequisite Evaluation Form are required at the time the form is submitted to Enrollment Services.
