Standards for Pause
Academic Pause
A student on Academic Notice is subject to pause when the student earns a cumulative grade point average of less than 1.75 in all units attempted in three (3) consecutive semesters.
Progress Pause
A student on Progress Notice is subject to dismissal if the cumulative percentage of units in which the student has been enrolled for which entries of “W,” “I,” “NC” and “NP” are reported in at least three (3) consecutive semesters reaches or exceeds fifty percent (50%).
Pause Period
A student may be required to remain out of college one semester, excluding the summer term, but may return on probationary status after one semester’s absence.
Appeal Option
A student placed on an Academic or Progress Pause may submit an appeal to Enrollment Services for permission to enroll without loss of one (1) semester if the student feels that the cause for the pause reflects extenuating circumstances. The burden of written documentation in support of these circumstances remains with the student.
Exceptions
A student may submit a petition to Enrollment Services for readmission following pause if their pause arises from one (1) of the following:
- Extenuating circumstances are verified cases of accident, illness, or other personal circumstances.
- Conditions that may be rectified by a change of curriculum.
- Military service obligations; student must provide military orders.
